Marquette Park and Its Setting

Marquette Park and Its Setting

Marquette Park is a large neighborhood park at S. Kedzie Avenue and W. Marquette Road, with open grounds and a mix of recreation areas and landscaped spaces. Its area is given as 315.18 to 323 acres.

Park improvements proceeded slowly because of drainage problems and the site’s size, often deviating from the original plan. The park became part of the Chicago Park District in 1934, when the city’s 22 park commissions were consolidated.
